eduroam (Educational Roaming) is an international project that aims to create a single space that enables WiFi wireless internet access easily when carrying out a shift to an institution associated with the project.
The Alicante University participates in this project.
The aim of this initiative is to facilitate the mobility of the university community among the organizations involved.
or a member of our university community can connect to the wireless network from another organization Eduroam (provided it meets certain requirements), only with authentication provided in our university and vice versa.
you can connect to this network must meet the following requirements:
· The wireless card (802.11 b/g) must be compatible WPA2/AES (it may be necessary to update the firmware and/or drivers have this facility).
· The operating system must support WPA2/AES. Otherwise it is necessary to use third party software.
Procedure to connect to eduroam. must follow the steps 1 and 2 in this order :
1. Sign me up for Wireless Service:
From a computer which is connected to the Internet, enter Virtual Campus and activate the wireless service. This option is found depending on our profile at:
a) For PAS: "Other services/Internet/WIFI" b) For PDI: "Utilities/Internet/WIFI" c) For Students: "Secretariat/Ofer. WIFI"
and choose the tab above wifi.
1.1. Enable WIFI service. 1.2. Download CA certificate. Copy kept for later in the wireless device you are going to connect to the wireless network of UA. If we are going to use any of the utilities of automatic settings that are available, it is not necessary to download this certificate.
2. Configuring the wireless device (laptop, PDA, ...)
